Senior Accountant

JOB TITLE:  Senior Accountant

JOB SUMMARY:  The Senior Accountant will be experienced in handling a wide range of accounting, customer support and general accounting related tasks. This person must be exceedingly well organized, adaptable, and detail-oriented.

The ability to perform under pressure and meet strict deadlines is critical as well as remain efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality that is crucial to this position. Candidate must possess expert written and verbal communication skills, strong time management and multitasking skills, proficiency with computers including excellent Microsoft Excel skills.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform general accounting duties including full cycle accounts receivable functions.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset files and depreciation schedule for all entities.
  • Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts; preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Manage the month-end accounting close process including summarizing financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.
  • Prepare and balance daily bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts for various subsidiaries.
  • Accurately and timely process requests for clients.
  • Process semi-monthly company payroll.
  • Reconcile checks and/or deposits, research discrepancies, process banking related requests, identify possible fraud items, file, and other misc. clerical tasks. Includes moderate to heavy contact with company department managers and executives as well as bank personnel at various banks.
  • Document, file, and archive transactions/reconciliations.
  • Document accounting processes and make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Maintain and process Sales/Use and Property Tax reports and filings.
  • Prepare & file annual 1099-Misc and Interest forms.
  • Provide significant assistance with the annual audit.
  • Perform a high volume of numerical detail-work with speed and accuracy.
  • Learn complex procedures quickly and adapt to new/changed procedures with ease.
  • Provide support, coaching, insight and training to Accountant.
  • Assist in preparing additional reporting and statements as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed in order to meet business objectives.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business with strong Accounting experience required.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in bank reconciliation, bookkeeping, or accounting.
  • General knowledge of finance and accounting principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Must be proficient with using QuickBooks.
  • Must be proficient in Excel.
  • Prior experience with preparation of schedules for outside auditors desired.
  • Have excellent communication, research, and analytical skills.
  • Have ability to solve problems logically and creatively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to all levels within an organization or customer base.
